Have you ever had to do a trust test during a team building exercise? They are so hard for me to do! Usually it includes you being blindfolded and up on a platform where you are supposed to just trustingly fall backward and allow your (insert group of people) to catch you. Have I mentioned how hard they are for me to do?!
Trust. The definition of trust is the firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
Given the state of our society currently and the disparity between that and the definition above, it is not hard to understand why trust is wavering in our fellow mankind. I have had people not follow through on their word. And people have hurt and disappointed me in the past. So often I do things myself. I say it is independence but really it is anxiety and lack of trust in the other person.
But how is your trust in God?
This is a tough question. At times our trust can waver in Him, too. We may cognitively believe and know that our Lord is good and faithful but sometimes in the moment of despair we don’t feel that to be true. So we attempt to be independent and do it ourselves. But that never ends up working out well, at least not in the long run.
So my hope for today is that you close your eyes and fall backward with the trust that God will catch you!
Take the time to read the below bible scriptures and truly focus on what they are saying to you. Some passages may touch you differently than others. Writing down the verses in your own hand is helpful for some individuals. Possibly looking up the verses in your own bible may be beneficial. I use a NIV bible translation. Or reading them over and over to commit to memory. Whatever method works best for you to experience God’s words and feel closer to Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Psalm 13:5-6
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.
I sincerely pray that these bible verses meet you where you are today and you allow yourself to trust in our Heavenly Father! He knows what is best for you in all situations!

My desire is to trust always in His unfailing love. It’s not always easy…I sometimes attempt to live in my own strength but as you so wisely pointed out, it doesn’t always work out I the long run. Reassuring post.
