A Guide for Parents of Teens

A Guide for Parents of Teens is a resource that will walk you, the parent, through twenty of the most difficult topics your teen is having to address in society today. Invest in your teen! #ParentingResource #ParentEducation #ChristianParenting #ParentsofTeens

I’ve worked with teens and their parents in different capacities for the past thirteen years and have been a Licensed Mental Health Therapist for close to ten years. The teen years are difficult to navigate for everyone involved, and our current society isn’t making it any easier.

According to the Barna Group, nearly three out of every five young  Christian (59%) disconnect either permanently or for an extended period from church life after age 15. That’s a shocking percentage and one we want to decrease.

The premise of this resource is to help you, as the parent, youth leader, or volunteer of teens, to think through and process the most difficult twenty topics so that you can feel more equipped to discuss them with your teen(s).

Structure of the Study

The study is a PDF digital download sent directly to your email after purchase.

This study can be done individually or as a small group for parents of teens. (The guide has a note for small group leaders on how best to approach study.)

Each topic will start with education about the relevant issue from a biblical perspective as well as my professional mental health experience in working with children, teens, and families for the past ten years.

At the end of the chapter, there will be a quick reference summary guide, and bible verses to read, pray over, and discuss with your teen.

Then there will be questions that you, as the parent should answer. These questions will help you solidify your views, beliefs, and opinions about the relevant topic.

The next set of questions is a guide for you to discuss with your teen. These questions are an opportunity to connect and help you navigate these topics in a loving and nonjudgmental manner.
