Our world is filled with opinions. And even the truth in facts has become questioned. Reality is becoming more and more based upon feelings and the subjective.
So much so that our ability to trust the news and even textbooks has diminished.
Yet with all of this instability, we have the ability to stand firm in truth. When we know Who truth is.
Book Review: Adamant – Finding Truth in a Universe of Opinions
About the Author
Lisa Bevere is a New Your Times bestselling author and an internationally known speaker. Her and her husband, John Bevere (also a best-selling author) are the founders of Messenger International.
The organization is “committed to developing uncompromising followers of Christ who transform their world.”
And Lisa does that through her passion in empowering women to find their identity and purpose in Jesus.
Book Structure
Adamant walks the reader through eleven chapters on how we can be certain of God’s truth and where we stand in that truth.
Lisa starts the book off with a history lesson on the word adamant and how it has altered and progressed with time. She also weaves in the biblical truths and findings that allows us to view God as adamant in both name and representation. I have come to love words and understanding their history, so I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter.
Following that groundwork, Lisa addresses the ways that God is adamant.
- Intimate: God wants to have an intimate relationship with you where you allow yourself to be vulnerable with Him.
- Constant: No matter our situation, God is always. There is nothing in our world that can change Him.
- in Love: God is love.
- that we Love: We are called to love others. No matter who they are or their circumstances.
- in Hate: God also hates anything that breaks down love.
- for Truth: God is truth. We may not always understand the reasons things happen but that is because of our limited scope of understanding.
- in Word: Words have power to build up and tear down. We are to be adamant that our words are godly.
- Transformation: We are to humble ourselves, pray, seek God and turn away from our own wicked ways.
- in Holiness: “We are to be holy in all we do. This means the way we live before others should reflect our submission to our unseen God.
And through each one of those truths and frameworks, Lisa ends with how we can be adamant as well. In our current societal view of tolerance and inclusion, I found this chapter refreshing. As Christians we are not to bend. We are to stand firm.
Honor him, brave one, with the strength of your heart and the length of your days. Tell others of his adamant love. Honor his hand on your life with the royal authority of his Word and the anointing of his Holy Spirit.
Lisa Bevere – Adamant
Final Thoughts
I think Adamant is an important book that addresses God’s principles in a society that doesn’t want to hear it.
This is a thought provoking book to work through and I also think it could be a powerful journey for a parent to take with their teenager. Lisa’s writing provides biblical truth with practical application and easily understood examples to reinforce that truth.

I will have to get a copy of this book one of these days. Such a great review .
The different areas God is adamant and undeterred in His approach is amazing
Melissa
Thank you for your kind words Diana! Yes, it was a great read to remember the qualities of God but also how we are to be as well. Thank you for stopping by and God bless!

Thank you for this review, I was happy to find it because I’m currently two chapters into “Adamant”! Far from fearing spoilers, I was glad to know whether it would be worth my time to finish the book. I think I’ll definitely keep reading.
Melissa
It is definitely worth finishing! I try not to give too many spoilers. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of the book. God bless!
Susan Evans
Even in churches, we are taught to honor opinions and to “agree to disagree” even if what the other person is saying is against the Scriptures. We need to get back to God’s truth.
Melissa
That is such a great point Susan. We can be loving without being agreeable and accepting of things that are not godly. The book addresses that, too. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. God bless!
Julie
Sounds like a great book! I’m going to add it to my list, I don’t finish books very fast like you do Melissa!
Melissa
Reading is my relaxation, down-time activity so it works out in my favor to be able to do reviews! 🙂 I hope you enjoy the book when you get the chance!

This sounds like a book we all need to read! I get so frustrated with people stating their opinion as fact, but then Christians can’t state the truth without persecution. This sounds like a good book to help us be sure of the Truth we know is Christ.
Melissa
I agree, Emily. It is frustrating that Christians are so often told to be quiet in our beliefs and truth. I find it more disheartening when churches are leaving behind some of God’s truth for the sake of inclusion. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. God bless!
Erin
I’m interested to check out this book. I have read things by her husband but not by her.
Melissa
It’s the first one that I have read from her but I enjoyed her writing style. I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up! God bless, Erin!

This sounds like a great book, Melissa. I like your suggestion about working through it with a teenager. Glad to be your neighbor this week at Faith-n-Friends!
Melissa
This how difficult our society is to navigate, and how much false information is being presented as truth, it’s important that we are equipping our teens with as much support and truth as possible. Thank you for stopping by Lois! God bless!
